5 reasons why every small business needs to be on social media.

It’s hard to imagine the world without Social Media. It’s been more than 10 years since the first Facebook post. Now we use Social Media for everything. Socialising, information searching, recruiting, job hunting and even dating! Many businesses saw the opportunity of using these social platforms in marketing and some of them did it very well. Social Media gave them a great chance to reach their clients through casual and fun advertising that doesn’t feel like advertising. It’s simply a great way to showcase all products and services in a fun and interesting way.

However I bet, some of you may think that Social Media isn’t right for their business; that I’m talking about big companies with big budgets and employees able to manage all this Internet stuff. Here is why you’re wrong.

  1. Promotion
Social Media is just another marketing tool. However, it’s the one that everyone uses. Once someone said that if you are not on Google you don’t exist. Now, if you haven’t posted anything online for a few hours, you’re likely to be forgotten. This is why it’s very important for every business to be online and engage with their audience. How do you engage with them? By posting interesting and likeable content, as well as promoting your company.

At the end of the day, social media is another advertising platform. But the one that is affordable, accessible and cool.

2. Your clients
Social Media gives you a great opportunity to connect with your potential clients. There are over 2 billion active social media users in the world. So there is a high chance your audience also has its favourite platform where they search and discuss relevant topics. Going online is like getting on the bus to meet them.

3. Customer service
As business owners, you definitely understand how customer’s feedback is important. Nowadays people tend to share everything online, whether it’s a question or an opinion. It’s just easier for them to message your company instead of emailing and then waiting for the reply. Being out there gives you an opportunity to reply quickly to your customer’s comments, questions and queries. And let’s face it, faster your response, the better is your client’s overall experience.

4. The cost
I’ve mentioned that social media is just another advertising tool. Well, sort of. The main difference is the cost. Social Media is affordable. Managing Facebook or Twitter can be free and even paid advertising is incomparable to expensive adverts in traditional media. Who nowadays have a budget to have an advert on TV or Radio?! Big companies with big budgets. Social Media lets your company compete with them. It gives you a chance to stand out even if your budget is minimal.

5. Competition
Another reason to go online is your competition. I bet some of them are already online, which means you are missing out on an opportunity. For example, according to research, 67% of Twitter users are more likely to buy from the brands they follow on Twitter. If your competitor is there and you’re not, you will miss out on great opportunities. Don’t worry if you feel like you won’t be able to do as good as other, bigger companies. If Social Media is done right you can stand out from your competition and watch their every step too!

I can assure you that once you decide to go online, you will not regret this decision. As well as millions of other companies who chose social media as part of their marketing strategy.
